Here at Charter Heating, we understand how frustrating and irritating a boiler break down can be. As leading boiler, heating and gas experts, we provide full maintenance and repair for homeowners. As a result, we have produced this guide to everything you should know about the most common boiler repairs.
What are the most common boiler repairs?
- Pump failure- pump failure is a common reason for leaks and dripping from your boiler. As the pump fails to push the water properly through the system, leaks can occur. Leaks can also be caused by improper water pressure too, so it’s important to check the pressure gauge first.
- Thermostat issues- If your heating or hot water is not working, the thermostat may be broken. This is another common fault that many households experience. A broken thermostat may have become disconnected from the boiler, or may not be communicating with it, which will mean that the boiler will not receive a signal to turn on or off. Alternatively, there could be an internal fault with the thermostat, which will mean a full replacement is necessary.
- Pilot light igniter – If your pilot light is out then it is likely automatically shutting down the gas supply, and your home may not have heating or hot water. If this is out, and there is no issue with your gas supply, you will probably need a new pilot light igniter, or a repair.
- Valves- valves involved in maintaining pressure within the boiler and maintaining water pressure can be broken over time, leading to leaks and other issues.
